About Rebecca

MY History

I have always been creative. My teenage years at school were always bound by creative thought. I was always pushing the boundaries in what I did. Artwork became the highlight of my week. It offered endless opportunity and thinking outside of the box – the ultimate excuse or reason to be unrestricted...and to have music on in class.

The logical step forward took me to university. I challenged myself to explore and became qualified in Interior Architecture at Oxford Brookes University. Upon completion of my BA Hons degree, the natural progression was to stretch my academic mind and continue with my studies. I decided to continue my learning in Architecture with a Masters Degree in Project Management within the field of Built Environment.

I hadn't realised I had wanted to be a photographer until just after this point of leaving student life behind. I went to a friends wedding and had an epiphany, an utter light bulb moment...I took a few photos on the tiny digital camera I took with me to their wedding and BAM, I knew it was what I wanted to do.

After that wedding, the couple used one of the photographs I took (despite having two professional photographers there to capture the day!) for their thank you cards which gave me the confidence in my ability. I then set to work on a portfolio, the rest is history and I haven't once looked back.

Photography has been a passion of mine for many years

Even after 8 years, well over 200 weddings...I am always learning, view finding and being creative. Whether it’s a family shoot, newborn or a wedding - I love seeing so many happy people. Being able to capture this is one of the most wonderful things in this world and I am blessed to be able to call this my job. Throughout our lives, everyone has ups and downs. I think capturing the ups very much helps with the downs. Being able to look through photographs, whether they’re recent or old, brings joy, nostalgia and a smile. Capturing moments that are poignant in our lives is so special. I like to capture the reality of what's happening, along with the atmosphere, details and ‘feel’ of the day or the dynamic of a family.

Please watch my short video to see a little bit more about me, how I work and why I love photography.

Starting with the simple stuff...I have always been creative, I think this started with loving cutting and sticking at primary school, these simple beginnings led me to do a degree in Interior Architecture and a masters in Project Management. However, life isn’t all about the academia... The most important things in my world are my family and my friends, spending time with them makes my world go round.

Laughing, I love to laugh, a lot of people say I have a ‘dirty’ laugh, I am still trying to figure out what that actually means! If I don’t have my cameras in hand, I’ll be walking my dog "Chief" or with my lovely Husband-to-be (thanks to covid). We love to travel, ending one holiday by booking another. Seeing the world, different cultures and ways of life is what hits my soul...but who doesn’t love a holiday?

Over the last couple of years I have enjoyed making our house a home, it's been a bit of a renovation project but we're getting there slowly but surely. I love putting schemes together, whether that’s fabrics and rugs, placing cushions on the sofa, framing artwork that I’ve collected or choosing carefully where to put a vase of fresh flowers. I have great pride in our home and it is our sanctuary. Aside from all the above, photography has been a massive part of my life for the last eight years or so. I take great pride in what I do, I love being able to give people back a memory they made. Even now, when I look back at photos I took of other peoples stories, I also, somehow see it as my memory… I think because I put so much love into creating the shot it's special to me too. I love this part of my job. Over the years a lot of clients have become good friends and I hope this continues.

If you're considering booking me to capture your special day, then please get in touch and tell me about your current plans.

I would love to hear from you!
